Geschichte und Schönheit einer einzigartigen Region

UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley

The Upper Middle Rhine Valley is an area of unparalleled beauty and historical significance. The region extends along the Rhine from Bingen to Koblenz and has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 2002. Here, visitors can expect a unique experience that combines culture, history, and nature. The Romans already settled here, and the number of castles in this area is unparalleled worldwide. Cycling and hiking trails lead along dramatic rocks, forests, meadows, and vineyards, and there are always enchanting views of the Rhine. An unforgettable experience!

Culture enthusiasts have much to discover here. This is where Hildegard of Bingen worked, famous Romantics like Heinrich Heine, who wrote the poem of Loreley, and William Turner, who traveled and painted in the Rhine Valley, stayed. The open-air stage on the Loreley Rock is the backdrop for many concerts, and in the towns along the Rhine, concerts, performances, and festivals take place. A highlight is the annual "Rhein in Flammen" (Rhine in Flames), which delights many guests on the weekends of late summer!

And last but not least, the Middle Rhine is popular for its regional cuisine and characterful wines.

Plan your next trip right here. We will show you the sights, hosts, hiking trails, and routes for your cycling tours on these pages.
